Und dann war das so, dass wir die Platten hörten, die unsere Eltern gehört hätten, wenn sie im Westen gelebt hätten. Die Stones, Jim Morrison und Woodstock. Unsere Eltern kannten das alles nicht, für mein Vater fängt Rock´n roll mit Elvis an und hört auch mit ihm auf. Meine Mutter schwärmte nie für eine Band, außer für die Jazzcombo ihrer ersten Liebe, einem Medizinstudenten, der nach Partys statt Tschüss zu sagen regelmäßig aus dem Autofester kotzte.
Trotzdem hatte es Achtundsechzig nicht nach Rumänien geschafft. Auf die dreißiger folgten bei uns direkt die neunziger. Dazwischen spielte mein Großvater „Ochi Chernye“ auf dem Klavier. Die Familie sang zu jedem Fest mit Tränen in den Augen und Schnaps im Blut „Irgendwo in Russland“ oder „Umsonst fliehst du“, von einer undefinierbaren Sehnsucht ergriffen, in die Ferne starrend, und dachte dabei an den Krieg, oder an Trianon, an die Scheißkommunisten oder daran, dass wir Ungarn einst groß waren und jetzt klein sind, wie ein mongolischer Pferdefurz, dass uns jetzt die Rumänen den Marsch blasen, oder die ungebildeten Prollgesichter und, das alles, was früher schön und stark war, jetzt kaputt oder tot ist, enteignet, oder ins Arbeitslager gesteckt, mit Bulldozern angefahren oder in den Westen vertrieben.
Die Zeit ist stehen geblieben, in dem Moment, wo mein Großvater um sein Leben Klavier spielte, ein Gelegenheitsbarpianist und verletzter Offizier in fremder Kleidung, Vater von drei Kindern, um ihn herum das zertrümmerte Budapest und sechs russische Offiziere, sturzbesoffen und von Heimweh geplagt, in Kriegsgefangenen – Sammellaune. Ich kann Klavier spielen, sagte er ihnen, weil er einen verlassenen Flügel sah, auch russisch? – wollten die wissen und er spielte russische Lieder die ganze Nacht und den ganzen Morgen, so lange, bis sie ihn gehen ließen.
Ich persönlich wechselte von Katalin Karády direkt zu Woodstock, als ich paar Jahre vor der Wende David kennen lernte. Seine Mutter, eine Kostümbildnerin, die gerne verschiedenfarbige Schuhe anzog um das Kleinstadtvolk zu schockieren, wanderte nach Amerika aus und schickte ihrem Sohn fortan Care-Pakete mit Schallplatten und Pin up Girls.
David sah wie ein Caravaggio-Jüngling aus und war sehr einsam. Er hatte zwei Kinderzimmer, in zwei Häusern, beide riesig, insgesamt vier Eltern und trotzdem keine Mutter. Bei seinem Vater, einem Bildhauer, bewohnte er eine ganze Etage mit Dachfenster, in Rumänien damals ein fast provokanter Nonkonformismus, als könnte man durch eine Dachschräge einfacher nach Paris emigrieren.
David trug Lederstiefel, Lederhose, Lederjacke und Lederhemd, alles selbst genäht von ihm, seinem Vater und irgendwelchen Frauen, die wie Hippies aussahen und bei denen im „Atelier“ wohnten. Dieser Lederkult hatte nichts mit Bayern oder Volkstümlichkeit zu tun, das war nur der verzweifelte Versuch eines siebenbürgischen Bildhauers an Geld zu kommen, ohne den sozialistischen Realismus zu bedienen.
Wenn ihn sein Vater zu sehr nervte, zog David zu seinem Stiefvater. Er ist oft hin- und hergezogen. Dort war sein Zimmer zwar kleiner, aber dafür gab es überall Geweihe an den Wänden und Hirschsalami. Der Stiefpapa war Tierarzt und ein leidenschaftlicher Jäger. Er wohnte in einem großen Jugendstilhaus in der Innenstadt und hatte eine riesige Pfeifensammlung.
Wir konnten dort von Kopf bis Fuß in Leder angezogen, Pfeife rauchend die Woodstock Platten hören. Ich aß tütenweise Kokosraspeln, welche Davids Mama aus Amerika zum Kuchen backen schickte. Küssen konnten wir uns nicht, weil mein Mund immer voll war.
David fand Joan Baez ganz toll. Ich fand sie langweilig. Er gab den feingeistigen Musikkenner und ich die musikalische Analphabetin, die nur auf starke Reize und schnelle Rythmen reagiert.
Doch es gab einen, den wir beide ganz toll fanden. Richie Havens. Oder, wie ich ihn mangels Englischkenntnisse Jahre lang nannte: Richie Heaven.
Immer, wenn er sein Lied anstimmte, sprang ich auf und fing an wie verrückt zu tanzen.

David hatte seine Mutter schon seit Jahren nicht gesehen. Er blieb sitzen und schloß die Augen.

Meine Bewegungen werden jedes Mal zu Zuckungen um am Schluss in einem epilepsieartigen Anfall zusammenzubrechen, mit Schaum um den Mund.

Atmen. Keuchen. Auf dem Boden liegen. Dann nach der Tüte mit den Kokosraspeln greifen. David wischt seine Tränen ab. Wenn ich keine Kokosraspeln hätte, würdest du mich gar nicht lieben, sagt er.
Am Abend sind die Straßen leer. Wenig Leute, viele Polizisten. Jeder kann uns anhalten. Diejenigen, die die Schule nicht schwänzen, haben gerade Werkunterricht und müssen täglich hundertfünfzig Nägel anspitzen.
Lasst die Rolläden runter, wenn ihr so laut diese Musik hört, brüllt der Stiefvater, und versucht gegen Richie Havens anzukommen, gegen diesen dünnen Streifen auf der Woodstockplatte, der um Etagen tiefer liegt als alle anderen, weil wir ihn ständig hören.
Am Montag ist Richie Havens gestorben.
Er ist jetzt Richie Heaven.

oh weh, wusst ich gar nicht, dass ritchie havens tot ist. er hat mit dem daumen in die gitarre gegriffen – einmalig.
Wie toll sich zu erinnern. Damals.
Da hat man sich noch die selbstgefärbten Röcke in Fransen geschnitten und Schlaghosen genäht aus irgendwelchen roten Samtvorhängen die man beim nächtlichen Stadtstreichen mit der obligatorischen Rotweinpulle dabei aus einer Mülltonne in der Nähe eines grade abgeewicklten Hinterhoftheaters rausgekramt hat, so überglücklich über den Fund, dass man schon wieder Fehler machte und den Typen den man grade dabei hatte, doch mit nach Hause nahm, was man am nächtsen Morgen bei klarem Verstand bereute. Aber man hatte ja die rote Schlaghose im Kopf und schließlich hat das Rattern der Nähmaschiene alle komischen Fehler einfach weggeblasen. Freedom!
Die Seele haben wir uns aus dem Leib geschrieen, oder? All die Schreie gegen diese doofen Touristen, die mit ihrem Dampfer an der Eastside vorbeischipperten um uns Wilde mit den Trommel und Dreads anzuschauen so wie Dinosaurier in ‘nem Naturkundemuseum. Was habe ich diese kleine Tür geliebt, die durch die mit fratzenbemalte Mauer in die Welt führte, wo wir nächtelang um die Feuer tanzten, Gitarre, Trommeln, schiefe Geigen. Ahh Freedom!
Mit dem alten VW Bus sind wir durch die Städte gereist, Straßenmusikanten, die wir waren, Joungliere, Tänzer, Geschichtenrerzähler und Diebe, immer dann, wenn das Geld von der Straße nicht reichte. Wir haben Wassermelonen und Bücher geklaut. Später sind wir in der Stille des Krieges fast verrückt geworden, damals in Kroatien. Besoffen fuhren wir unseren alten VW Bus, haben uns in den Wogen des Meeres befriedigt und uns dabei die Geschichten von den Verlusten erzählt. Mit Tränen manchmal spielten wir für die Kinder des Krieges, die uns umarmten wie Feenwesen aus einer anderen Dimension und die uns erzählten, dass die Treppen in ihren Träumen fehlten, manchmal auch die Lampen und die dann wissen wollten warum. Aber Antworten hatten wir ja keine, nur den Tanz, die bemalten Gesichter, die Jonglierbälle, die rote Samtschlaghose und die lange Haare. Freedom! Freedom!
“Total langweilig, Mama. Kein Jugendlicher in meinem Alter, hört so eine Scheiße.” Die Musik wird von meinem fast 15jährigen Sohn auf Zimmerlautstärke geregelt!!! Das glaub’ ich nicht, keife ich! Und da steht meinem FREEDOM plötzlich das POKERFACE von Lady Gaga gegenüber. Auf meiner Seite alles ein bischen verklärt, so ein bischen mit yeah yeah Würze und chillig, dort die totale Berechnung, zusammengekniffene Augen und so ein hedonistisches Grinsen. Scheiß drauf, ich wackel mit den Hüften, erhebe die Arme und singe leise Feedom und dann ganz laut Freedom, Freedom, total peinlich eigentlich und ich dreh mich, zappel mit den Armen wie jemand mit ‘nem epileptischen Anfall und irgendwie krieg ich’s hin, dass das Pokerface lächelt. Es freut sich richtig und dreht die Musik wieder laut. Es räumt das öffentliche Schlachtfeld, was unser gemeinsames Wohnzimmer ist und lässt mir meine Freedom! Das Pokerface verbannt sich selbst ins Kinderzimmer. Jeder Generation ihr Motto.
